In three decades of experience in the metallurgical field SPECIAL FLANGES SpA has been able to achieve important goals and high competitiveness in the domestic and international markets thanks to the unceasing development of the in-house Technological Laboratory which has guaranteed the continuous quality of its products, always in compliance with current legislations and the highest standards.
Aiming to satisfy the ever more complex costumers’ requests and engineering needs, our Technological Laboratory has equipment and qualified and certified personnel which are constantly updated to enable several tests to be carried out in as required by customer and OEM specifications.
At the basis of the laboratory activity there are destructive tests, necessary to evaluate the mechanical properties of metallic products, guaranteeing their reliability, efficiency and service life required in a wide variety of applications, in accordance with most of national and international standards:
- Tensile test at room temperature (max 600 KN)
- Quick hot tensile test up to a temperature of 1000°C (max 250 KN)
- Impact test down to a temperature of -196°C (max 450 J)
- Rockwell, Brinell and Vickers hardness test
- Simulated heat treatments

The Technological Laboratory is well equipped to carry out several tests with materials subjected to different types of corrosive atmospheres according to most of current standards and to specific customers’ requirements. The in-house laboratory metallographic department offers:
- Macrographic examination
- Micrographic examination (grain size determination, inclusions count, phases count check, etc.)
- Corrosion test
Moreover, our laboratory is able to perform the following non-destructive tests by certified personnel:
- Visual inspection
- Ultrasonic inspection
- Dye penetrant inspection
- Magnetoscopic inspection
In order to offer a complete range of services, the Technological Laboratory equipment also includes an optic spectrometer to carry out chemical analysis and P.M.I. instruments based on fluorescence or optical spectroscopy for alloys identification.
